Metro stations are space age....

Locals homes are shacks....

Next door to Wild Wadi water park is....

The hotel I was supposed to be in! But the causeway bridge here, as the thing sits in the ocean, has a security gate to keep plebes out. A chauffeur driven Beemer leaves without me :(

Next door is a less posh resort where I had an over priced lunch.

It has a souk too selling all kinds of stuff.

And one last view of what is I believe the worlds ritziest hotel. At over 1700 US for a cheap room, per night.

Ok this is my cab and back to the metro.

By the metro on right the sloping thing is the ski slope from yesterday.

Waiting for train....

Ok now a drive into the desert.

Cop cars are BMWs here like in Switzerland.

Here's my 4x4. They would not let me drive.

They let air out the tires for the sand.

Then they do this. The locals call it dune bashing.

And this why they would no let me drive their cars, yes I was in one. We were driven around like this for an hour or more over hillocks and slopes, no in flight barf bag though.
Toyota must be happy how many Land Cruisers they sell out this way.

Nothing in the next 4 pics seems very happy to me....

I did try the hookah, it was apple blossom being smoked. I did not hold the poor bird or ride a camel, I felt sorry for them....

Dinner! I met a French Canadian couple from Ottawa, they were nice, they had been to the Burj Al Arab for dinner, they were told the cheapest dinner for 2 would cost them around 300 dollars, they paid just over 1000.
What's worse, when I asked how good it might be, they said it was pretty average to awful !

Sunset...

Our camp.

This man makes designs in coloured sand.

And the grand finale was a belly dancer.

That little outing was my birthday present to myself.
Oh I know, you'd rather watch American Idol....
