Phi Phi

The Phi Phi islands are technically part of Krabi province and not part of Phuket. After travelling some rough seas in a speedboat, they are a sight for sore eyes. I only pity the souls heading that way in the giant ferries. They are packed with horrid tourists. As is usual for Dave's deluxe life style, I prefer private beaches or small groups, so that's what I stuck with. I also did not stop on the giant commercial beach on Phi Phi Don, it is a narrow sand bar with ocean on each side, and thousands died on this beach in the tsunami. I would have liked to have climbed up to see it from above though...

Anyway, some snorkelling, some food, some lovely beaches and a wonderful lagoon. On the small speedboat a tech from Fujifilm in Japan and some Canadian school teachers working in Singapore. Nice people.

We pulled up at monkey isalnd but didnt stay - too many
monkeys in sun hats and bad fitting speedos spoiling the view.

Not too many funny stories really. The crossing was rough in places with 2 metre waves.

This is cave is one of several where birds nest soup comes from. It is the bird saliva that makes the soup special...

This is a lagoon famous for glowing water, well, it appears to. Radioactive.

I got sunburned badly on one arm today, stupid me...

The beach in the far corner is the one Di Caprio had bulldozed for 'The Beach.'

It was a nice day actually, good fun.
